They tell me that it's best to begin at the beginning, so we'll start with the conception. It all started a dream of having a flight simulator in which I could be completely immersed in the experience. Only recently, I saw a 29" flatscreen tv on sale for $475 that I thought would've been awesome for flight sims. I NEARLY bought it, too (thanks, erin ;) ), but then I noticed the lack of funds in my bank account (especially for so profligate a purchase) as well as the lack of room in my dorm to put such a monster. But the whole spiel did get me thinking about flight sims again, and I looked around on the net to see what I could see. Lo and behold, several people have actually built their flight simulators from the ground up! There were some really great ideas out there, too (most of which I hope to incorporate into this website, all with credit going where it's due, of course). Here's the kicker, though: I'm in Korea. There is no room in my place right now to put together something like this. So, I'm going to use this opportunity to do some planning before I jump in and screw something up. It'll be a lot of planning, sure, but I want to get this thing just right. You see, I'm not that exceptionally gifted when it comes to carpentry, electrical work, computer-related issues, etc. In fact, I'm just your average guy, plus a bit of curiosity. A dreamer, if you will. But as my dreams have a tendancy of coming true, I'm not going to let that title stop me. Muahahahaah...! Uh, still on the subject of introductions... My purpose with this website is to go through, step by step, every detail of this project (tentatively titled 'Verisimulum') from conception to completion. Honestly, it will take a couple years, but good things come to those who wait. And do stuff like plan whilst they wait. One more thing I'd like to address before we move on... why ASCII? Two words: 28.8 kbps. Cheaper that way. When I DO get my cable connection back (I miss it so much...), I'll probably have scads of pictures to upload to the site. Till then, if you have a problem with it, you can just kiss my ASCII :) . And now, on with the show!
